Hi William ... here's a recap of what I did in response to your
instructions.

There were enough temp int files to delete and 4 objects. I had previously
set the temp int file size to 80 meg to reduce the site. I also regularly
delete history items. All files are cleared.

Under [KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension] - no listing for plugins - no action taken.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Brow
ser Helper Objects] - no listing for Browser Helper Objects - no action
taken.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar] - toolbar
was listed. Action = deleted.

d. Under Browsing, click to clear the "Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart)": Action = deleted.

PS: William, it might help you to know that I always get a good connection
(browser and email) upon startup - at all times. It's only after some time
(say, 20 - 30 min) has passed, that IE, Outlook and OE
fail (while being able to ping various sites).

This evening, after being connected for a little longer than has been the
case since reformating my main drive (say 90 minutes), both OE and Outlook
are no longer connecting. I pinged www.yahoo.com and got a response.

Outlook yields the following:
Task 'pop3 - Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) : 'The operation timed
out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. If you continue
to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet
service provider (ISP).'

OE yields the following:
A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to the server. Account:
'pop3', Server: 'shawmail.cg.shawcable.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110,
Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC15

Upon exiting OE produced the following message:
Outlook Express could not post your message. Subject 'Re: Connectivity, but
can't browse or send/receive', Account: 'msnews.microsoft.com', Server:
'msnews.microsoft.com', Protocol: NNTP, Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No, Error
Number: 0x800C006F

So .... I'll reboot, so that I can reload OE and let this message get sent.
Hopefully the changes I made will help.
Thanks for your help. I hope that these steps yield enduring connection.
Diana
