Problems with IE6 on Win 98

Hi

Here is what has happened.

My IE would not start at all. Everytime I run the
executable I get an error message stating that the program
has performed an illegal operation and will be closed down.

What have I done? I have:
Run the Internet explorer fix - no luck
Run the System File Check - No luck
Installed IE 6 - No luck
Re-Installed all the Windows executables - No luck
Checked for viruses using the lastest definitions from
Norton - No luck

Anybody have a clue - because I have plumb run out of
ideas....
