IE6 Crashes when selecting internet options & Unable to update it

IE6 Crashes when selecting internet options from Tools:
Error Msg says:-
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

I have also tried to reinstall sp1 for ie6 to try &
resolve the problem, but I get another problem whilst
installing the update.
Error Msg Says:-
"The software you are installing has not passed Windows
Logo testing to varify its compatibility with windows XP
This software will not be installed. Contact your system
admistrator."

I've tried several times and I get the same problem.

OS XP PRO
I have applied all updates.

Can you shed any light?
