I originally posted this in IEAK by mistake
Following a major failure of our home PC I have had to
resort, temporarily at least, to use my Ergo laptop for
internet access. I began having problems being unable to
access and web site and following advice ran Hijackthis
and various spyware/adaware apps. Needless to say I now
have at least a modicome of access - though I am still get
a 'click' sound when doing some functions and I am unable
to use links from inside emails (SOPHOS anto-virus Alerts
in particular).
Having obtained the official MS Update CD I proceeded to
update both W2K (SP4) and IE (from 5.5 to 6 SP1). The W2K
update appeared to work but I am now getting a message on
boot up that requests original 2K cd to restore files,
also the IE6 stops saying invalid signature and now I
cannot get it to complete either from the CD or using
dowload sites.
Any help would be greatly apprecciated
