Re: "Block Sender" deletes EVERYTHING in folder!!!???

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Just a thought. Have you checked "stop processing more rules" where
appropriate? It's just possible that several rules are being applied
inappropriately to some messages.

Thanks Brian but where do I find the "stop processing more rules"? I looked
for it under "New Message Rules" where they give you 4 small windows. I
also looked under Tools, Options, Maintenance and the other tabs. Will
appreciate al ittle more guidance? Thanks so much again! :o) Adela

Thank you Wandering, but if I check the "Empty messages from the deleted
items folder on exit" then next time the same happens they'll disappear
even
from the "Delete" folder. I'm talking of my GOOD files that OE removed
alogn with the ones I wanted out, which shouldn't have.

As to creating rules, I prefer to use the "Block Message" by hand as I
don't
have so many, I just don't want it to make disappear my other good files
there. When I have real spam, then I just click delete and let it go
with
that.

Do you know how to go where OE keeps all the blocked names? Thank you.

Would this help:

Tools Options Maintenance
then check "Empty messages from the deleted items folder on exit"

I only use "block sender" in the newsgroups. Once you block them, you
just don't see them anymore - they are still there, and have not been
deleted - you just don't see them. You can edit the blocked sender
list if you ever want to unblock them.

For email, you can create a rule that deletes everything from any
particular sender right on the email server so it never even downloads
it, and you'll never see them again. Of course the rule could delete
them locally instead, if you wish. Rules can be based on lots of
different things and can do lots of different things when they are
triggered. Of course, lots of rules will slow things a bit.

Hello All, I have OE6 and when I want to block an email name...it
deletes
EVERYTHING else. i.e.:

I highlight the email name I want to block, go to 'Message", "Block
Sender",
then it asks: "Would you like to remove all messages from THIS
sender from
the current folder now?", "Yes"...but then it removes the entire
folder!!!
I went to the "Delete" folder and they were there, BUT, I had a hard
time
recognizing ALL my msgs and taking a lot of time going through the
entire
delete folder.

Anyone knows what this means and how to solve it? I'm reluctant to
use that
funtion now for fear of, again, losing files.. .

I anticipate many thanks for any ideas. :o) Adela

P.ks. Never a dull moment at the computer world... Sigh...
