Hi Wandering, I'll answer under each paragraph below if I may...all in caps
so you can easily? :o)

I am beginning to form a clearer picture of what you are trying toI UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE SPAM, BUT AGAIN I SAY WHAT GOOD IS IT IF THEY
accomplish. Ten years ago, it would have been much easier. Today there
are many spam laws, and ISPs are all afraid of running afoul of them
so they take a variety of measures they see as preventative. Mostly
for folks with large mailing lists it turns out to be inconvenient.
INTERFERE SO MUCH WITH PEOPLE'S WORK? WHY NOT LEAVE US INDIVIDUALS ALONE TO
FIGHT THE SPAM SINCE THERE ARE TONS OF ARTICLES ON HOW TO AVOID OR FIGHT IT,
AND MEANTIME AT LEAST WE'D BE ABLE TO DO OUR JOBS WITHOUT THESE TORMENTING
RULES. ALSO, ONE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW TO WHOM TO COMPLAIN SINCE EVERYTHING'S A
SECRET NOWADAYS! OH WELL, IT'S ME DREAMING AGAIN! LOL!.
A while ago, I had need to distribute to a list of 120 names.
Fortunately it was a short-lived project with only a few mailings. In
any event, while my ISP managed to digest it well enough, about 1/3 of
the recipients found my message in their spam box and another third
had a warning added that it might be spam. Simply because I sent to so
many. THIS SHOWS YOU CLEARLY THAT THE SO-CALLED SERVERS OR WHATEVER ELSE
THE'RE CALLED ARE THE ONES WHO CREATE THE PROBLEMS. I DON'T EVEN HAVE A
FILTER; I JUST QUICK CLICK DELETE WHATEVER LOOKLS LIKE A SPAM, THEN IF IT
GET'S TOO MANY OF THEM...I JUST CHANGE THE EMAIL ADDY AND LET IT GO WITH
THAT.
Yet, another friend mails several times a week to a list of about 250
with about 125 in the To: field and the rest in the CC: field. I don't
like this because in the end they are sending their list of names to
everyone on the list. Who knows what use they will make of it. At
least one has already spammed it. I KNOW ONE CAN DO THAT BUT I TOO FEEL
THAT THE NAMES SHOULDN'T BE EXPOSED NOT ONLY BECAUSE AS YOU WELL SAY ANY
PSYCHOPATH CAN GET THEM, BUT ALSO IT'S A BOTHER FOR THE RECIPIENTS WHO
HAVE TO SCROLL DOWN INTERMINABLY THROUGH A LONG LIST OF EMAIL NAMES TO GET
TO THE MSG. I ALWAYS USE THE BCC. HOWEVER IN MY CASE, EVEN IF I USED THE
3 PLACES: "TO:", "CC", AND "BCC"...STILL MY SERVER OR OUTLOOK EXPR. OR
WHATEVER, WOULD STOP MY MSGS FROM GETTING SENT OUT BECAUSE FO THE AMOUNT
OF NAMES.
I don't use OE for email. I use Pegasus, one feature of which is a
nice ability to do mail merge, and customize each letter, thus sending
out a batch of individual emails. It's full of lots of other fine
features, and free. (v4.41). YES, PEGASUS IS ONE OF THE GOOD ONES THAT I
WAS CONSIDERING, AND IT WAS PRECISELY A VERY KIND PERSON AT PEGASUS (I'M
SORRY I DON'T RECALL HIS NAME) THAT EXPLAINED TO ME THAT IT WOULDN'T BE
PEGASUS (OR ANY OTHER CO. LIKE THAT, DON'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF THESE
COMPANIES) THAT WOULD INTERFERE WITH THE AMOUNT OF THE NAMES...ALSO, I
DON'T DO ANY OF THE WORK THAT YOU MENTION HERE.
There are many other bulk mailing email programs out there, many of
which may have the capability to bypass your ISP mail server (smtp). I
think it means Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) Many ISP's don't allow
that, as mine is one, so I send all mail through their server. I
CONTACTED THESE COMPANIES, ESPECIALLY 2 THAT SEEMED TO CHARGE REASONABLE
PRICES AND OFFERED EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED AND NO MORE: I.E., TO BE ABLE TO
EMAIL OUT UP TO, I BELIEVE, 3,000 NAMES...THOUGH I WOULDN'T HANDLE EVEN
NEAR THAT AMOUNT. BUT, THEY DIDN'T HANDLE "FORWARDS", SO THEY DIDN;'T
WORK FOR ME, DARN IT! MOST OF THE WORK I DO IS FORWARDING MSGS I RECEIVE
FROM CERTAIN ORGANIZATIONS AND INVIDUALS (AND THAT I CONSIDER USEFUL).
Your incoming mail box is your POP server, (Post Office Protocol).
They are actually different computers in many cases. THANKS FOR ANOTHER
LESSON HERE, WANDERING!
You will probably continue to encounter a series of problems with
large lists, and using standard mail services it is only likely to
get worse in the future. My only advice is patience and smaller lists.
YOU'RE SO RIGHT THAT IT WOULDN'T GET BETTER AT ALL, SO I'M STILL TRYING TO
LEARN THIS YAHOO-GROUP. WHILE I WAS ABLE TO CREATE IT AND GET A FEW
PEOPLE TO SUBSCRIBE, I STILL HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS WHICH ARE NEVER IN THEIR
FAQ's AND WHEN I DO FIND THEIR SITE EMAIL FORM...IT TAKES THEM A MINIMUM
OF 3 DAYS TO ANSWER...A-N-D...MANY TIMES THEY MISINTERPRET MY QUESTION
SO...ANOTHER FEW MORE DAYS. GEEE, WHAT A MESS!!!
Please be sure that those you mail to actually want you to mail to
them, or you may run afoul of spam laws or rules of your ISP. More
than one I know has been shut off for what the ISP considered spam. OH
YES, IN MY CASE, ALL IN MY LIST WANT TO BE IN IT AS THEY HAD REQUESTED IT
MANY YEARS AGO WHEN EVEN BEFORE I STARTED WITH THE COMPUTER. THOSE IN NYC
WE KNEW ONE ANOTHER BEFORE, THE REST OF THEM CAME TO MY COMPUTER THROUGH
OTHERS WHO TOLD THEM. NO, I'D NEVER ENTER ANYONE WITHOUT PERMISSION SINCE
II DON'T LIKE IT DONE TO ME. LOL!
Have fun, and consider it all an adventure designed to prevent your
days from becoming peaceful and dull. : ) OH IT'S A NICE ADVICE...BUT
BELIEVE ME, I CAN THINK OF NO LESS THAN 100 OTHER THINGS I'D LOVE TO DO
INSTEAD OF PLAYING AROUND WITH THIS "TOY"... :o) AT THE VERY BEGINNING
THAT WHEN I BOUGHT THIS COMPUTER ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO, WE ALREADY HAD SPAM,
ETC. -BUT- THE SERVER COMPANIES AND OTHERS DIDN'T THINK OF
BUTTING IN, SO IT WAS VERY EASY TO ACCOMPLISH A LOT OF WORK. I JUST
AVOIDED THE SPAM AND THE VIRUSES AND THAT WAS IT. NOW, THE ONLY REASON
THEY ARE BUTTING IN IS M-O-N-Y!!!!
The only thing I'll concentrate on will be to learn more and improve my
YahooGroup so I can go on with the work, and then I could do the same with
my other 2 lists and just abandone OE.. I must add that I'm quite
disappointed at the OE MVPs who claim to be authorities in OE, yet none of
them responded to my appeal for help...
Thanks again for your always interesting messages. In what city do you
live? Adela

Again, Wandering to the rescue! Thanks SO very much! You sayinteresting
things but I'm still not well informed about those smtp's, pop's,etc. I
hope someone knows! LOL! All I know is that my servers and OE areblaming
one another for this problem, but they aren't the ones who sufferthis bad
inconvenience...subscribed! And
The YahooGroup is another story. I did create a group for one of my
identities, the largest one...but only 23 people of my 240
precisely this morning I re-sent them an invite...so 2 moresubscribed! I
guess people don't like the pain of subscribing (I hate it too). Iwish
Yahoo just let us send our messages to their maximum allowed withoutsame
tormenting the recipients with subscribing, etc....
I was waiting to complete this large list at yahoo so I could do the
with my other 2, smaller lists, but it seems I never finishcompleting the
first one! :o) I'm extremely disappointed in the internet - whatgood is
it if there are so many interferences??? At least in the past withthe
electric typewriter (yes I go way way way back) ;o) whenever Idecided to
reach a number of people, I'd just type the names, then only oneletter
which would retype itself many times and yes, while it was a littlemore
work (and noisy LOL!), at least I KNEW the letters got sent outperiod. Not
in the internet not, here one never knows if and when they'd getout, to say
nothing of the .extreme aggravation and time consuming! Sigh! Ithought
some of the MVP's would help. You'd think OE would take a littlemore
responsibility?complete
However, without having to wait until my large YahooGroup list is
and ready for me to send out to all 240 names, I wonder if I couldsend them
from my yahoo email, without the group. Not sure but I'll certainlytry,
even though I don't like the web based emails. What do you think?and
Again my good friend, thanks so much for your usual useful comments
suggestions! :o) Adelaalways

Hello,
These messages are not very friendly, are they? Nor do they
yourreflect the actual problem. It seems, and I may be wrong, that
(POP)smtp (outbound mail) server is complaining that the receiving
yourserver felt it was getting too many messages that hour for that
person. Since it is just the one message, I don't think it is
hour.server complaining, and of course, we have no way to know how many
your friend is receiving, or how many they are allowed in each
blocked
Sometimes some ISP's block others. For instance a number have
onmy ISP Comcast. Often the receiving person can spend a lot of time
cannot.hold and eventually get the block removed, and sometimes they
can.For quite a while I couldn't email my church from Comcast - Now I
then,In the meantime I used my yahoo account.
I think I would just try that again later, and if it is rejected
useI'd just see if I could send from an account like yahoo. It is a
great idea to have such an account in any event, and it's free. I
and Iit as my trash collector, mostly. When someone I am not sure of
insists on a valid email address, as many websites do, I give them
yahoo till I see how it all goes. They have great spam filters,
all ondon't have to deal with much crud. I don't use a spam filter at
frommy comcast account because it is so seldom out there.
Anyway, good luck. Sometimes with email, you just can't get there
nothere. And by the way, the email address I use on the newsgroups is
updatesvalid. Too many eyes scanning this.
