Re: Windows Messenger auto starts with Outlook Express 6

Nope. That doesn't work either. I've unchecked every box in the Personal and
Prefernces tabs in Messenger. Mrssenger still runs every time I launch
Outlook Express. To add insult to injury, it won't close as long as OE6 is
still running. Why does Microsoft insist on making it so difficult to use a
simple program like OE?

Options
Alerts & Sounds
Uncheck "Display alerts when email is received"

Good luck. The two remain connected by an umbilical cord of some kind.
When Outlook starts, it will start Messenger, and then close it. Watch
the system tray for that activity. I'd love to be able to stop it, as
it only slows Outlook down. But those two boxes, this and the last at
least kept it from opening altogether.

I tried that before I posted this question. It doesn't stop Outlook
