I'm not sure what the issue is, but when I attach a graphic file to an
email, it is not only visible in the mail body, but it is also an
attached file. They can either cut and paste from the message body,
save from the message body, or drag the attachment to anyplace they
want it.
They can also use the menu, or right click the graphic and send it
about anywhere. It's pretty flexible.

I don't think you can. I have Thunderbird (having junked OE for
reasons
I won't go into here), and it does the same.
You can save the picture by right clicking on it, so I don't see the
problem.
