OE6 not downloading messages

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I've had a very strange problem. OE stopped downloading messages from
one of my accounts, although superficially everything seemed fine, and
no error messages were produced. I only noticed when checking my mail
through my ISP's web interface whilst abroad. My other 2 accounts were
working fine.

The really strange thing was that it happened simultaneously on laptop
and desktop. I tried deleting some messages from the server, to no
avail, and contacted my ISP, who denied a problem. Sniffing the
packets being transferred during a communication, the full list of
messages on the server was being downloaded.

Eventually I solved the problem by deleting pop3uidl.dbx on each
computer, and having to sort out the resultant mess.

I could understand if this file became corrupt on one computer, but I
can't understand how it can simultaneously be a problem on two units.

Has anyone else had this problem, and did you get to the bottom of it?

Thanks

.
