link beteen IE and OE broken

Can anybody advise me how to re establish the link between OE and IE as it
is not there when one click on the Tools, mail & read options, also it does
not feature in the drop down box when choosing the mail program in the
options section.

I have tried looking on the MS website to see if there is a download for IE6
to reinstall it, all Microsoft seem to do is a SP1 for IE 6.
