Re: Get blank screen when accessing Hotmail sign-in page

It seems erratic now. Usually I get a blank screen but several times it
worked. It seems to depend on where I am when I try.
However, I discovered if I type in "http://login.live.com"; it takes me to my
account page, where after I login and click "mail", I get there.

I think I'll quit while I'm ahead. Thank you very much.

Download the Norton Removal Tool, saving it to your desktop:

Double-click on the saved file to run the tool; follow all prompts & reboot
at least once.

About the other website I couldn't reach (blank screen), it was
www.hallmark.com/crownrewards. There may be others.

I tried resetting IE6 but I still get the blank screen.

About your questions:
I have the CA Security Center ( license is current) :
CA Anti-Virus
CA Anti-Spyware
CA Anti-Spam
CA Personal Firewall (which seems tied to the Windows firewall in that
the latter turns on and off as I turn the the CA one on and off)

I had Norton several years ago but I believe it's gone (I didn't renew).
There is a program on the list called Norton WMI Update. I never had
McAfee.

What website?

Try Resetting IE6
====================
Note: This step will help us clear cookies, restore the security level
back
to the default settings, and disable third-party browser extensions.
Before
trying the steps, we can export the cookies so they can be easily
restored
later if you desire:

1. Press "Alt" from your keyboard, click "File", and click "Import and
Export".
2. Click "Next", select "Export Cookies", and click "Next".
3. The file is saved by default to your “Documents” folder, click "OK".

If you would like to import the cookies after resolving the issue, please
select “Import Cookies” in file menu to import the saved cookies file and
choose the “cookies” file from your “Documents” folder.

For Internet Explorer 6.0:
----------------------------------------
1. Click Start, Run, type: “inetcpl.cpl” (without quotation marks) and
press Enter.
2. Select the General tab, and in the Temporary Internet files window,
click "Delete Cookies", and click OK.
3. In the same tab click Delete Files, check the "Delete all offline
contents" box and click OK.
4. Click the Programs tab, and click "Reset Web Settings".
5. Click the Advanced tab, and click "Restore Defaults".
6. Under the Advanced tab, uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions
(requires restart)".
7. Click OK.
8. Reboot.

If no joy...

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than
Defender)? What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?

The 3 recommendations from PA Bear did NOT solve the problem:
1 - I optimized IE for Windows Live Hotmail - no change - still have the
problem.
2 - Top 30 Windows Live Hotmail Help Topics - couldn't find anything
anywhere near this problem.
3 - Windows Online Solutions Center - I went there first. I searched
for
this problem and like #1 above could find nothing. I couldn't "post
there
instead" on the Community Forums as you suggest because one has to
sign-in
to post, and I couldn't because the screen comes up blank instead of the
sign-in page (this same problem). See problem# SRX1093090251ID with
"Jane"
of Windows Live Technical Support.
She did give me the link to the Microsoft Online Customer Service -
see
SRX1093394518ID - who suggested I try here.

Please don't send me around again.

I'm not sure this is a IE problem - do I have the right discussion
