Re: IE does not open the set default mail client after instlalling Windows Live Mail

Thank you for the definition of crossposting vs multiposting.

One of the reasons I did it the way I did was based on what I've read in
these newsgroups, some of which were rather negative responses, like a slap
on the wrist, regarding (1) the use of crossposting and (2) telling posters
to post in the proper group.

But the main reason I posted in two separate groups, and a day apart, if you
noticed, was because I didn't see a response to my original post in WLM. I
then thought that maybe it was more an IE issue, not WLM, so rather than
retype the problem, copied and pasted my original post and posted here. I
did not think to crosspost my issue when it originally occurred....so, now,
it appears I multiposted.

Fortunately, Mr. Santovec provided the right solution to my problem in the
WLM group, and as a result of his solution, I came back here and out of
courtesy, posted to my original post, which still had no solution, and much
less, an answer from you.

I try to be a responsible poster, read the posts first to see if I can find
the answer to my problem BEFORE I post.

In the future, I will keep in mind your recommendations, and maybe you might
look at the dates/times people post a problem to a particular newsgroup that
might appear as a multipost before responding this way. It is precisely
things like this that turn people off from posting their issues or seeking
solutions and sharing what they know in the newsgroups, which might be
different and "right on" from the solutions provided by MVPs here.

The Email default in Set Program Access and Defaults is now set back to OE,
thanks to Mr. Santovec's solution..

Regards,

Ryder

What's the Email default in Set Program Access and Defaults?

If you must make identical posts to multiple newsgroups, please cross-post
one (1) message to all of them. Thank you.

I've downloaded and am testing WLM for certain features, but have not
made
it my default mail client.....

With WLM closed and OE opened, and IE opened, I tried to send a web page
by
email and WLM opened instead of OE. I closed WLM and checked the
settings
in IE to make sure that OE was listed as the default mail program, which
it
was. I checked the settings in both OE and WLM to make sure the former
was
the default, and the latter was not. I tired again to send the web page
via
the default email client and again, WLM opened instead of OE.

Has anyone experienced this problem?

Now, why would this behavior occur when all the settings point to OE as
the
default mail client? Do I need to go into the folder options, file
associations and change the program that sends web pages, or go into the
registry somewhere?

I know I have to change these options in IE whenever MS performs updates,
because the default email program always seems to change to Outlook after
MS
updates.

Thanks for any help or explanations to resolve this peculiarity.

Regards,
Ryder
