My server is sending me this notice:

How are you getting that notice ??

When I open my browser this page opens:
http://my.att.net/s/s.dll?spage=cg/news/inter_31708.html

The AT&T Internet Service Home page URL has changed.

All you *really* need to do is click on the URL of the new page, then when
IE takes you there, go to the Favorites menu and selct 'add to favorites' and
add the address.

The new URL is http://my.att.net But clicking on it will do nothing!
I'm directed to: Click here to set Home Page to (my.att.net)

This is a courtesy address for services from ATT... it's good to have it but
a long way from mandatory.

Please update your Internet Browser Home Page or Favorites immediately.

You home page should stay with what ever you have chosen it to be.... Yahoo,
Google, your web site, etc.. There is NO reason for ATT to be your home
page.

But it doesn't!
It does change in: Tools > Inter Options > Address
But the URL is: http://my.att.net/s/s.dll?spage=hb/index.htm
Not http://my.att.net

Because w98se is not supported by AT&T

Of course it is. They may not offer technical support (yet I'm thinking they
do)
but there is nothing about IE 6 running on 98SE that seriously differs from IE
6
running on any other OS platform.

IE 6 Runs in Win98SE with as much ease as it does in 2K, NT Server, or XP.

this change can not be made regardless of
my attempts. Is there a way I can block this notice that prevents my home
page
from opening? TIA

This sounds like a malware problem... and I wouldn't always consider the silly
installation disks that ISPs insinuate you must use as being a lot more than
that. The first thing you could do, IF you used the ATT installation disc...
is to
go to add/remove programs and remove the ATT software. All you need for
a dial up is a phone number and a password, and for DSL, a password. (And
settings information for your mail server). You do not need ATT software
installed
for your connection to function properly. Removing the software should not
affect
your current e-mail or internet settings.

I never installed the AT&T software I originally started using Dial-Up
networking and recently changed to DSL (which I was told I could not do BTW).

I believe it is some malware or something else I do not understand that opens
when I open the browser. I suppose this will change after a few months and
AT&T stops it?

Do you know how to change your default opening (home) page in IE6 ?

Yes but when I manually change Tools > Internet Options > General > Address and
close the browser it defaults back to: http://www.att.net and the next time I
open the browser I get:

The AT&T Internet Service Home page URL has changed, and it cycles all over
again!

I talked to the 2nd level tech support at AT&T and was told this is because I'm
using w98 and nothing can be done.

One way I get around it is to go to any Favorites and open anything, which opens
the browser. This works as long as I do not go back to the home page.
