Hi Throck,

By any chance have you installed the IE5 powertoys which includes two
utilities to Add Site to Trusted Zone and Add Site to Restricted Zone. The
Add Site to Restircted Zone corrupts IE's security settings in the registry
if used with IE7, which could have remained when you converted back to IE6.
Post back here if that is the case so we can work out a fix for you.

Also try pressing the Defaults button on the Security tab. If this does not
hang the browser, you should then be able to go and change the default
settings to your requirements.

Regards.

I upgraded to IE7 only to find I did not care for it. After unistalling IE7
using add/remove programs and reverting to IE6, I now find the Explorer
Information Bar has become enabled again.

I am following the instructions to stop blocking file and software
downloads
as follows: On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
On the Security tab, click Custom Level.
Do one or both of the following:

To turn off the Information Bar for file downloads, in the Downloads
section
of the list, under Automatic prompting for file downloads, click Enable.
To turn off the Information Bar for ActiveX controls, in the ActiveX
controls and plug-ins section of the list, under Automatic prompting for
ActiveX controls, click Enable.

Each time I attempt this and click OK, IE6 becomes unresponsive. I click
to
close the window and IE6 windows all close. I open one back up to attempt
the
change again and get the same result. Software is all up to date according
to
MS Update.
