I'll give your links a look see, although it is too late for advice on "before installation", unless I do a system restore, which I'd rather not. Perhaps there is an easy way to uninstall and reinstall, without losing favorites, etc?
Play it safe. First use IE's File | Import and Export to export your favorites to a file.
Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs
Removing Windows Internet Explorer 7 returns you to IE6.
