Hi Guv,
My God Guv, u is right-e-o. I am running XP (pro) with IE7.
I right clicked on the task bar to show its context menu and selected
Toolbars.
Everything looked ok, except that I had two links toolbars. I then unchecked
one of the Links toolbars and it was removed from the taskbar. (I know this
may be an IE7 thing as it uses a different UID from v6).At this stage my
Quicklaunch bar was fine.
I whent back into the taskbar context menu and unchecked the Quicklaunch
toolbar, then back in again to re-check it.
When the Quicklaunch bar was reloaded the icon layout had changed! I had
duplicate icons for MS Outlook.
When I look at the properties of the duplicated icons, they are different,
not just copies. One property page for one of the shortcuts has additional
tabs for Compatibility while the other is a normal properties dialog.
Very strange indeed. I have included here my own description of the problem
for the benefit of other forum users who may wish to reproduce the problem.
But the bottom line is there does appear to be a small problem with Startup
User Desktop profiles. But you have to admit that it is not a show stopper.
Development and Maintenance is the art of nailing jelly to a tree.
I just tried a fix by navigating to the AllUsers Quicklaunch folder as I
assumed that the additional links were comming from that folder at start-up,
but on my machine at least this was not the case. (I have a very
personalized configuration on this machine). Unfortunately I cannot offer
you a fix at this time, but hopefully this post will be seen by someone else
who may be able to reproduce the problem and find a fix.
Finally, I would like to leave you with a thought.
"By definition 50% of a population has an IQ greater than 100" and equally
"By definition 50% of a population has an IQ less than 100"
Think about that.
I am not sure of the exact definition but I think that the definition of an
imbicile is an IQ of less than 80.
No disrepect intended.
Regards.

Thanks, Rob. I did that and now both the duplicate icons AND the original
icons disappeared. When I re-boot, they come back but so does the quick
launch bar. What I had before was 3 icons in the taskbar at the far
left -- show desktop, IE and OE. Now, I have these 3, plus the
quicklaunch
icon which contains the same three. Duplicating stuff.
Here's what it looks like now...

Hi Guv Bob,newsgroups
Right click on an icon in your task bar or desktop to display a
drop--down
menu. Select the Delete option. This will delete any unwanted
icons/shortcuts.
Nobody has answered your question, probably because your question was
hard
to understand. I did not download your screen shot because of security
concerns of accessing unsolicited images which can harbor malicious code.
Hope my answer solves your problem. Most answers solicited on MS
are provided by enthusiasts and volunteers and are in no way connectedwith
MS.
Regards.
