| Try disabling the Google toolbar and see if that helps. If not,
| uninstall it and then reinstall the earlier version if possible. If
| still no joy, do a system restore to a date prior to the time the
| problem started if you have a restore point for that period and see
| if that will resolve the problem. Then see if you can set the Google
| toolbar so that it does not do auto-updates.

Thanks for the response
I'd already worked out the Google bar was at fault
Can't find a way of setting Google to not auto-update - so will not bother
using it any more
