"How can I get rid of this sob?"
Download and install the toolbar directly from Yahoo!. Restart your computer, then uninstall the toolbar from Add or Remove Programs. Or contact Yahoo! technical support.
"Is there a way I can prevent it from ever coming back again?"
Pay attention before you download things from the internet. In particular, read carefully what you are agreeing to install.

Every 6 months or so the Yahoo toolbar attaches itself to ie by some mysterious process. I used to be able to get rid of it by control panel -> Remove Programs. This time it does not appear in the list of programs. Nor does it appear in msconfig Startup..
How can I get rid of this sob? Is there a way I can prevent it from ever coming back again?
