no, my firewall and internet security are disabled, as well as pop-up
blocker, but still no downloads from microsoft?...
genuine validation is also good.

ie 6. service packs up to date.
was doing the same when i had ie 7 beta 3...

Don't ever run without a firewall. It only takes seconds to get infected.

In my experience this is usually caused by malware.
