Re: Adobe reader opens and freezes IE for 5 minutes

I uninstalled Acrobat 7 and re-installed a new copy, now the problem is
fixed.

While I had Acrobat uninstalled, I opened the problem site and it loaded
fine with no delay.
Here's a question: After installing the new Acrobat 7, I opened the problem
website and the Adobe EULA popped up. There is no PDF involved with the
home page, but I okayed it and it closed and disappeared. Then the page
loaded normally. So why would this site need to access Acrobat just to open
the home page?
Thanks. Learning something new every day,
Rusty

Since yesterday, a few sites have been freezing up when I open their home
page. For instance when I open www.ihatedialysis.com, IE 6 freezes for 2
minutes, then an empty Adobe Reader window opens. After 3 more minutes
the website will finally open and everything works fine. If I click on a
link back to the index page the browser freezes up again. Most sites work
fine, and nothing ever loads in the Adobe window, so I just close it.
Sometimes it pops back up and I just kill it again. I opened "Tools >
Manage Add-ons" and disabled the Acrobat helper object, but nothing
changed. I see no evidence any of the affected websites have PDF files
associated with them.
Does the link I provided have any problem with your browsers?
I downloaded this week's Windows updates. Is there an issue with any of
them?
Thanks,
Rusty
