Never happened before. I don't know if this is related, but now Firefox
also keeps prompting for Flash Player even though that plug-in has been
properly installed and is indicated so in its settings.

If still no joy, try uninstalling Macromedia Flash Player with Adobe Flash
Player Uninstaller:
