Re: LOTS of Pop Up's

Tom this crap just started a couple of weeks ago. And just gets worse. I
have found that the geeks are wrong more than they are right. But a broken
clock is right twice a day so I gave them a shot. I smell a format coming.
Nothing is better than the smell of format in the morning.

I have zero pop-ups, so the Geek Squad must be wrong.

I have windows defender. and I am getting pop-ups right now and this
microsoft page is the only site that I have opened. I am fighting to
close
them. I have two monitors and in monitor 2 I have no less than 30 open
windows. Thanks for the inputs but ..... Could it be partly because I am
on
a wireless network (yes it is secured). I talked to the "Geek Squad" at
Best
Buy and they said that I just have to accept that it is part of the
internet
and how it works.

Beside the good advice and Tips by Jon, it depends on the kind of sites
you
visit if you visiting a website built with a lot of Pop-Ups triggered by
(Java applet) or clicking on any link on their page, then it will do it
Automatically unless you close it from the *X* or by pressing ALT + DEL
+CTRL, this the kind of agressive marketing tools which adopted by some
websites to push you buy their stuff.
If you have Windows Firewall it will not be enough to protect you from
the
WWW, try a third party Firewall.

P.S BTW what time the packaging was LOL. :o)

Has any one noticed an increase in pop up windows lately with IE6. I
have
been swamped with them. Yes I have service pack 2. Yes I have the
firewall
active. Yes I have the pop up blocker turned on and set to High. What
am I
missing? I know someone is going to ask me some for some detail like
"Does
the build number have dashes or comma's in it." I have given you what
I
know. If you need to know if the CD packaged in the morning or
afternoon in
order to give me advise Thanks but dont even go there. If you know
what I am
overlooking please just tell me. Thanks
