Re: ActiveX downloading....it wont

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

There is nothing to do ! I'm in the same case with Millenium and IE6 SP1 !

Microsoft has broken its Internet Explorer IE6 Browser and the Windows
Update fonctionality with an automatic update, probably to force the users
to migrate to (and pay for) XP SP2 (only public system with a corrective
patch) before Vista next year. Much more money for Microsoft !!!

Now, only solution for me : reload a full backup of my C:\ drive (3 months
ago) and deactivate all automatic updates to avoid this problem again.

Of course, you have the possibility ("at your own risk") to use an illegal
copy of the Windows XP SP2 CD-ROM of your neighboor !

Good luck... and thank you Microsoft !!

Hi there, Can anybody help me, when ever i go to a web site that needs to
download a activeX control, an online virus scan for example, i always get
the message saying that my settings are preventing the downloading of the
controls. However i have triple checked my security settings for ALL the
zones in Internet options , i even changed them from enable to prompt ,but
when on "prompt" i dont even get prompted to accept the ActiveX. Allthough
i
do get a "Windows" box warning me of my settings if i disable activeX
downloads. I have checked all the settings in the Advanced tab of the
internet options and all is ok in there. I have tried two repairs of
Internet
Explorer to no avail. I am running Windows ME, IE6, SP1 and all updates. I
have uninstalled and reinstalled my java, nothing seems to resolve the
problem, Any help would be much appreciated. Glenn
