CrystalBallÃ,© sez: If you're referring to pop-ups indicating new
Hotmail messages when you have Windows (not MSN) Messenger running,
that functionality was removed in the version of Windows Messenger
you're running
now.

I do not get the pop-up when I receive a new email. Why not?
This just started a few days ago--it used to do it.
window open, I want it to tell me that I got a new email so I can go
to it. When I turn on my computer, log in, it shows my security
functions, & USED to say how many new messages I have. Now it doesn't
show the messages, nor do I get the noise & the little pop-up telling
me "new message from...subject..." You mean this function is no
longer available?
Windows version, please?

That's a function of WinXP Welcome Screen. Compliments of Kelly:
Use TweakUI/Logon/Unread Mail and Repair/Unread Mail Count
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
To remove an account or to change the count manually:
Start>Run>Regedit>navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your
E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to
0.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail.
In
the right pane modify: MessageExpiryDays Change it to 0.

me "new message from...subject..."
If you're referring to new Hotmail messages, again, Windows Messenger no
longer includes this functionality. MSN Messenger does, if it's
running.

messages in my inbox. For example, I was doing something else, then
went to my inbox to see if I had any messages, & discovered you had
kindly replied. Used to get the little popup in the bottom right, when
I got a new message. Thanks!
Please don't begin your reply on a line beginning with a " > " as the
quoting gets mixed up. I've corrected it in my replies your last two posts
but it's getting tiresome.
What does your email address end with (e.g., @earthlink.net)? If you're
using a new address now, what did your old one end with?
While you may have been using an ISP-supplied or other third-party
application that gave you such pop-up notices, there's nothing in IE,
Windows or Windows Messenger that provides this functionality, lizklub.
