Re: IE6 Glitch

I run SpySweeper continually in the background, and have for the last year
or so, and always get a clean bill of health when I do a scan. Are you
suggesting this is inadequate? The process you are suggesting is a lot of
thrash to go through if SpySweeper has kept me clean.

Your thoughts?

1. Uninstall SP2 via Add/Remove Programs and reboot.

2. Run a thorough check for hijackware, including posting your HijackThis

When all else fails, HijackThis

It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware.

http://castlecops.com/forum67.html, http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30 or
other appropriate forum for expert analysis, not here.**

3. Do not install SP2 until an expert gives your HijackThis log a clean
bill of health.

No, this machine has always had XP Pro installed

No, it worked fine before, same as the laptop I referred to.

I am unable to open more than one instance or window of IE6,
either by
going to the desktop and double clicking the icon, or (and
most annoyingly!) when clicking a link within a web site such

and leaves me dead-ended without even a back button.
The operating system is XP Pro SP2. the IE version is

I have a laptop with the same OS and IE version and it works
properly. I
have compared the settings on the two machines and they
appear to be the same.
