Re: windows update forces me to type http:// now

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

YW & thanks for posting back.

MS plans to re-release MS06-015 on 25 Apr-06 to address known issues associated with the first release of the update:

"When the update is re-released, it's going to be very much targeted to people who are having the problem, or people who have not installed MS06-015 yet. That means if you have already installed MS06-015 and are not having the problem, there's no action here for you. Windows Update, Microsoft Update, and Automatic Update will have detection logic built into them to only offer the revised update (which essentially includes the reg key fix) to those customers who either don't have MS06-015 or are having the problem."

Option 2 did work great! Thanks PA Bear. It fixed having to enter http://
in browser, it fixed shift-arrow select in explorer and my machine is now
back on track. I guess it's time to turn OFF auto updates and backup
before any updates. I must of spent hours trying to figure this out.
Couldn't find anything in KB. Thank you!
