When you download anything, you should get a choice on where to save it. Do you not get the choice?

Hello,
I'm getting into nature songs. However, when I click a link to one, they are automatically downloaded to my temporary internet files folder. Once in there, they are difficult to find as I have thousands of files stored there. My goal is to be able to download these files (mp3, wave, au, etc.) and same them in my My Music folder, with an eye to send them to my library in Real. If you have followed me this far, I would like to know if there's any way to change IE 6's settings so that some files are not downloaded to the temporary internet files folder.
I would also like if, once I download these files, will I be able to listen to them if I delete them from the temporary internet files folder. it is really confusing in that some of these files, when you check their properties, are shown as being saved in either a URL (that is, a remote computer) or a media program like Musicmatch or Real. All I want is to get these files stored in my My Music folder so I can have both quick and permanent access to them. I would really appreciate any information you could give me towards this end.
Jay
