Re: websites load slowly without www in the web address

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

My problem has been resolved. THANK YOU. I had deleted the temporary internet
files and checked the offline box. but that didn't work. It was only after I
stumbled on the actual offline folder (I was looking for something else) in
windows explorer and deleted the files in it that I can now type my urls
without www again.

I've noticed that sometimes when I use the Internet Options dialog box to
delete files, it doesn't do a thorough job. Think I'll just do these things
manually for now on.

Thanks again.

No, I don't think at this point I'd worry about the favorites. But, do
clear
your History on the General tab where you cleared the TIF files. Or use
the
free utility below to fully clean your History.
CCleaner, which does a very good job:
http://www.ccleaner.com/

If you have recently updated to the Java 6.0, uninstall it in Add/Remove
Programs. There have been problems associated with the 6.0 update on
some
machines that causes IE to open and/or respond very slowly. If it does
not
revert back to the Java 1.5.0_05 then reinstall the _05. You can find
the
_05 here:
http://www.tucows.com/get/194327_86883

Go to Tools>Internet Options> Advanced> Browsing> put a check by "Use
inline
AutoComplete."

Then go to Start>Run and copy and paste the following command in the
window
and then press enter.

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

You should see a message that says the file registered successful. If
still
no joy, then try re-registering the following files:

Start>Run>enter the following lines in the window one at a time, hitting
Enter after each one. You should see a message after entering each one
that
it was registered.

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

If you are you using any Norton products? If so, disable it and see if
that
helps.

If you have any 3rd party toolbars such as Google, MSN or Yahoo, disable
them. If you have Yahoo Companion, uninstall it. If you have any 3rd
party
software, firewall, popu or ad blockers, disable them( for testing only).

Also, be sure that your system is free of any scumware: Follow the steps
here
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Be aware, your Anti-Virus won't detect all types of warez, Trojans,
malware,
worms, etc., and neither can other adware or spyware related programs
such
as AdAware and SpyBot. They don't have the proper definitions. They must
also be run in Safe Mode with Hidden Files enabled in order to fully scan
all files. Even if you have run such programs and nothing shows up, it
does
not mean your system is clean. It takes a series of programs to fully
clean
your machine. Some very aggressive and damaging variants of malware can
replicate themselves repeatedly, or mutate, if not removed properly. :

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response. I have win me (millenium). You mentioned my
favorites folder, should I be deleting my internet files from that
folder,
too? I clicked on delete offline files, but that did not empty my
favorites.

Thanks,
AEA

Hi AEA :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, which really
is a
must when asking for help in the newsgroups, but, try the following
and
see
if it helps:

Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm
Note: Any links listed in your Favorites (including any pages you
saved
for
offline viewing) will not be deleted when the History is cleared
normally.
Therefore, you must also check the box next to Delete ofline files on
the
dialog box as well when you clear the Temp Files to be sure all files
are
deleted.

If still no joy, then do the following:

Restore search functions
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/RestoreSearch2.REG
to restore your search functions

Hope this helps.

I
do
not

I have DSL, win me, and using ie 6.0

Thanks
