The java scripts in the website for my bank account don't work any more.
I
can't log in there. I talked to the tech support people at the bank and
we
verified that my computer is apparently blocking the java scripts. I
talked
to Comcast (my ISP) and we verified that my IE6 browser settings shouldn't
be blocking the java scripts. We checked SECURITY and PRIVACY settings
and
reset ADVANCED settings to default. We deleted temoprary internet files
and
cookies.
At the bank account site the boxes where I would normally type my username
and password don't even show up on the page any more. Oh yes, and I also
can't get Windows updates from Microsoft. That site apparently can't scan
my computer to see what updates I need - maybe because my browser is
screwed
up. When I click HELP/ABOUT in IE6, the version number, cipher strength
and product ID info for IE6 is all blank. Has anybody ever heard of that
before?
Apparently my computer is only having a problem with some websites but not
others. There is different financial institution I access online and I
can
still log into that one by typing a name and a password. Web browsing
seems to be OK on other sites. I just can't login to my bank account. I
have Win98SE on the machine. I am going to reformat the partition and
reinstall Win98SE if I can't fix this pretty soon. But what if this
problem
comes back? I need to know what causes it so I can fix it next time. I
recently uninstalled Norton AntiVirus 2003 and installed AVG Free Edition.
After this problem started I uninstalled AVG Free to see if that might fix
the problem. It didn't.
Please let me know if you have any ideas what might be wrong.
Thanks. Bill S.
Did you try asking the banks support? Perhaps you aren't the only customer
they have had that has had problems and they have some experience with your
problem?
