Virus?
Spyware?
Damaged / missing / unregistered Windows System files?
Anyone else got any ideas / troubleshooting advice?

Are you running any third party Firewall program such as Norton Internet Security?
What Anti Virus program?
What Anti Spyware program?
If you have any junk toolbars such as Google, Yahoo, Starware, My Searchbar, etc.
Uninstall them, restart computer and test for resolution....

If so, are all Windows Updates installed?
If so, are you able to boot to Safe Mode With Networking and connect to the Internet?
If so, does Internet Explorer produce the same error and behavior?

I got it changed but now an error box keeps coming up saying "windows can not
