This is not an unusual problem in IE, but, here is a free utilility that
will help prevent the problem:

FavOrg: To save Favicons - Free
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Bookmark-Managers/favorg.shtml

This allows you to save them permanently in a different folder and
re-associate your favorites with the stored icons. It also verifies whether
your links in Favorites are still good.

Windows XP w/ IE6 - SP2
After a recent Windows update my "Favorites" folder has started
automatically sorting itself alphabetically. I rearange my Favorites back
to
the order that I want them in, but they become re-alphabetized after
opening
and closing IE6 a couple times. How do I make the alphabetical sort stop?
