Re: IE 6.0 - Browser Freezes - Any Ideas?

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi davina :-)

Unless you are accessing the same page as the OP in this thread, you may
have a different problem. Also, as of Maurice's last reply to the OP, the
problem is a known issue on the webpage acknowledged by the webmaster of the
site, and there is nothing the OP needs to do to rectify the problem.

If you are have a similar problem, then please post a new thread here, fully
explain the details of your particular problem, what version of Windows you
are using, and the exact wording of any error messages, and we will do our
best to help you find a solution to your problem. :-)

Thank you!

Jan :)

i've been having this problem for weeks now and i have tried everything to
fix it (virus scans, spyware scans, discussions with my brother the
computer engineer, the tech guys at work, etc.). i've been pulling my hair
out! the tech guy at work said to run the beta saftety.live.com, but
whatever this bug is, it won't even let me install that!

yes, i also use Firefox and encounter none of these problems, but certain
things (such as Westlaw - i'm a law student) are optimized for IE only, so
it would really be helpful to figure this out.

the problem is not limited to certain sites. it seems to be related to
links that launch some sort of active script - either javascript or
activeX. click on such a link, regardless of the web site, and IE freezes.
usually it doesn't give an error message - i have to close through the
task manager b/c IE doesn't respond, which then makes the error message
about a "hungapp".

any other ideas?

Hi Maurice. Yes we've noticed that problem with a few Ask Jane Dough
articles in Internet Explorer
And we are troubleshooting it as we speak.

Thank you for your concern and we hope to resolve this type of problem
immediately.

Yeah but it seems that this is happening across the board on all IE
6.0 Windows machines, not just mine. I don't think I can tell users
to repair that DLL you know?

thanks!
