Re: IE6 hangs

Hi,
Does this problem occur if URL Autocomplete is turned off both at Internet
Options> Content> Autocomplete and Internet Options> Advanced> (uncheck) Use
inline autocomplete? If turning off Autocomplete helps, the History folder
for that user account may be corrupted. You can delete it from the
Administrator account. A new History folder will be created on restart.

And... this may be a symptom of malware. Have you run (at least) Ad-aware,
Spybot and Windows Defender (Beta?)

Also, try disabling browser add-ons, BHOs, third-party toolbars, etc. One of
them may be the cause. ToolbarCop: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/toolbarcop.htm
may help.

Hope this helps,

Have XP Pro SP2 with these symptoms: IE 6 starts normally and displays
home
page www.google.com correctly. Entering search string in Google search
window
yields results correctly, and some pages will load when clicking links
from
Google results page. However, entries keyed in IE's address bar will NOT
load. Machine is on network with other identical machines, all set for
automatic Windows updates. Can ping, browse network normally. No spyware
or
trojan activity detected. Should note that this behavior has now migrated
to
(3) total machines in last few months.
Ironically, have removed machine to alternate network (cable modem
w/router)
where it apparently browses all sites. Ran Windows repair, reloaded
Windows
updates (including SP2), returned machine to network, and browser still
hangs.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
