Hi,
It's likely that another program is causing this- possibly legitimate-
possibly malware.

[XP SP2]
>From IE> Tools> Manage add-ons. Disable add-ons to see if one of them is the
culprit.

If not using SP2... Internet Options> Advanced> Uncheck "Enable third-party
browser extensions." If IE opens properly, you need to find the bad
extension, toolbar or program.

BHODemon http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3550.html may help find the
guilty party.
