A more significant diagnostic is what is happening on the network.
E.g., have you tried tracing the initial connection requests?
Also, in spite of the fact that you have tried scanning for malware
be aware that this is a classic symptom of a search URL hijacking,
especially if you are not entering the URL's protocol prefix
e.g. when entering requests via the Address bar or Open dialog.

In the likely event that that is where you find the problem is
you would probably get better assistance from a newsgroup
which specializes in networking for your OS.
