Intermittent problems loading amazon.com - please help

Hi,
One of my users is having problems getting to Amazon.com. Normally this is
the sort of thing no time should be spent on fix, but this is a special
case.
I can get the page to load on my system, and I know it's not being blocked
(both because I can get it to load and because I control the firewall). And
the really odd thing is that I can get it to load on his computer when I
log in as myself, but not when he is logged in.
This made it seem like it was something in the profile, so I copied the
contents of his profile into another profile I created on that system as a
test. Sure enough, when logging in as the test user, the all the things I
expected to see - desktop, icons, favorites, program settings, etc, were all
there, and sure enough, Amazon would not load. The top bar (with the search
tool for their site) loads, and it hangs, eventually timing out, displaying
nothing else.
I've tried deleting cache files, and even manually combing through the test
file, deleting cookies and any temporary file in any such directory that I
could find, but nothing worked.
Anyone have any ideas what might cause this? My recommendation was for him
to create a new profile, but that is always a bit of a hassle to get
everything "just right" again, so I'm hoping I can find what's wrong and fix
it.
I've checked his browser settings too and they are were default, I even
tried enabling a few more things just to test. Nothing worked.
Another odd aspect is that it used to work for him on that profile, but
doesn't now.
TIA
.
