Re: The page cannot be displayed

Hi Jan :-)

The problem still exists ! what could be wrong ?!

First my silence has to deal with the fact that for days whenever I tried to
get on to the support forum I would get a “temporarily unavailable , sorry
for the inconvenience” message from MS! But a few days ago I tried to get
into the forum from our other computer and there was no problem. Aha ! I
thought, it is working again, but no, not from the “problem” computer. I then
went into my profile and just ok’d everything and now I could enter into the
forum again ! Now that we are passed this diversion…

I still can’t open certain web sites or pages of certain websites, and they
are not the secure pages, those work fine ! So I tried everything you are
mentioning in your previous message and some like:
- checked if a BHO was the culprit
- ran Norton AV 2005, SpyBot, MS AntiSpyware many times including in safe
mode, even Hijackthis and CWShredder (this computer seems clean of any
malware or other mean program)
- reinstalled scripting, did a LSP fix and a Winsock2fix,did a netsch
winsock reset
in CMD did a ipconfig / flush dns
- ran scan disk and defrag in safe mode
- renamed the host files (they were empty), installed Host manager
-checked all internet option settings of both our computers and they are
identical

What else is there to do? Reinstall IE6 ? how to ?
Again our other computer of the same vintage, running windows XP with all
the updates, the same anti virus, has no problems hooking up to all sites and
pages.

Close to giving up on IE6XPsp2 !
