Malicious Code, IE and firewalls

I'm trying to understand something ........

At my workplace, we have some sort of firewall that blocks things like
"malicious code". What that firewall is, I'm not sure. My workplace is
using the Windows 2000 platform and, on a few computers, Windows 98.

Anyway, I have a website I always access at home called "Canada411.com". It
gives me both residential and business phone #s.

At home, I can access both the residential and the business portion of the
website. However, at work, I can only access the residential portion.

When I queried the IT folks at work last May and this week, they told me
that the work firewall was preventing access to the business section because
there was a malicious code on the Canada411 website. They told me that the
software used by Internet Explorer to display some webpage content can lead
to a security breach and, until Microsoft secures their product, they had no
choice but to block the potential risk.

Now I'm totally baffled!!! Especially when I can access everything at home
- - I also have a firewall set up - Norton Internet Security, plus I run MS
Anti-Spyware, Adaware and Spybot. Every now and again to ensure that nothing
has been missed, I will run the on-line virus scans at McAfee and Norton. I
also try to ensure that I have all updates on my computer - I am running MS
XP Home SP2 and IE 6.

So ......... why doesn't my computer program at home stop this "malicious
code" too?? And, really how malicious is this malicious code??? And what
firewall program are they using at work that prevents the code and should I
think about getting it??

I am so baffled that any and all information on this item would be
appreciated.
