PA Bear thanks for keeping with me!
In IE I can get to windowsupdate. I then click to check for updates (I was
even able to install the preupdate component). The page hangs trying to
search for the status of installed components and returns a page with
troubleshooting recommendations.
I have enabled automatic updates.
Antivirus is installed and properly configured.
Windows XP firewall is enabled.
Specific webpages: microsoft.com (remember from above
windowsupdate.microsoft.com does load!) continental airlines
website(continetal.com). After a long delay I receive an error message saying
the site can not be found. (Basically a time out error). The page can not be
displayed. The page you are looking for is currently unavailable.
