Hmmmm the machine is clean. I have also tried Jon's posted help of deleting
the Favorites folder and letting it rebuild itself. That did not work either.
However I did find a work around that I was not aware of before. If instead
of using the menu to create bookmarks you use the keyboard shortcut (crtl +
D) and instead of trying to drag a URL to the desktop to create a shortcut
you use the menu of File/send To/Shortcut to Desktop, it does not create a
crash.
It looks like I am going to have to completely re-install XP to solve this issue, unless someone has another idea.
