Re: Process runs but browser doesn't open

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi,
There's probably additional malware installed. It's still in Beta testing,
but has been performing well- try Windows AntiSpyware (Beta)
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx
Running it from Safe Mode sometimes helps.

Or BHODemon 2.0 from http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm will
let you easily disable BHOs to see if one of them is the troublemaker.

Or the clean boot troubleshooting process could rule out a legitimate
program as the offender:
276393 - Understanding and Troubleshooting Unrecoverable Errors (Faults) in
Internet Explorer: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=276393

The next step would be to post a HijackThis log for analysis. Start at
http://forum.aumha.org/viewtopic.php?t=4075 Then go to
http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm Work through the preliminary cleaning
steps then post a HijackThis log to the forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/viewforum.php?f=30

Be patient. It's a busy forum and some of the regular contributers are on
vacation.

HijackThis logs are also analyzed at these (and other) forums. Look for the
proper forum and an "Important- Read This First" message so that you follow
proper procedure.

Hope this helps,
