Jan,

Where are you getting those lines from?
(Presumably you are copying them from somewhere?)
If it is not a .txt file there may be unprintable control characters
on the end (e.g. a signal for a hard line end vs a soft line end, etc.)

In any case I imagine if you browsed that file with a hex editor
that you would find that the trailing question marks are just some
other characters which can't be represented in your news message's
character set so they are converted to ? when pasted.

If you don't have any other tools which would show you the hex value
you could always use debug.exe and its E command to paste some
copied characters and then its D command to show you their values
in hex. <eg>
