Re: Reading PDF's from CD-ROM within Internet Explorer

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Hi Garfield :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, I will take a guess at Win2000. Try the following and see if it will help:

First, IE browser software defaults Acrobat Reader to "OFF" to display PDF files. You can restore the setting to"ON" by finding an Acrobat document and then opening it.

Then click Edit> Preferences> Internet> check the box next to "Display PDF in browser"

also...

Try updating/reinstalling the latest Acrobat Reader:

Explorer-View-Folder Options-File Types

The path to Folder Options may vary according to your operating
system. It may be:
Explorer-View-Folder Options
Explorer-Tools-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Folder Options
Start-Settings-Control Panel-Folder options.

If still no joy, try the information here:

Hope this helps :-)

I have a CD which autoboots into a webbrowser to view the documents, and then
the user clicks on a link to open the one then want.

Dare I say it the CD works spot on with Mozilla Firefox, no problems opening
the PDF's at all.

However it will not work with Internet Explorer if you click on the link it
just sits there and does nothing. I need it to work in IE (it is IE6 I am
using with all the security updates)

I have checked that the security setting in IE allows active content to be
opened from CD-Rom.

Please someone help.
