I don't think so. Java is not activated when I access GMail. I don't know
if they use ActiveX controls for MSIE, or not. They don't seem to be using
Javascript, though (which is NOT the same thing as Java); I am able to sign
in using Firefox 1.0.4 with Javascript disabled. It doesn't seem likely
that they would use ActiveX for MSIE, and not use Javascript for Firefox,
given that ActiveX was MSFT's answer to Javascript.

Clear your cookies, TIF, history and try again?
