Thanx for the reply Dan, but it's happening with
*every* pdf doc I try to open through a browser link.
(Opening pdf files directly from my hard disk works).
I've tried the HTML version sometimes offered in a
list (such as a Google search) and some of those
(in HTML) seem to be fairly small docs.
