Agreed. That's why I am suggesting ways to
A) hopefully eliminate some of the Javascript calls (e.g. substituting mouse actions
with keyboard actions)
B) break down the rendering of the page into steps using Security dialog prompts.

For example, I mentioned that I see two prompts for scripting on a blank page.
If you see one or both that would refine your symptom description considerably.

BTW notice that both procedures are things that you could try on your other computer
so you would understand what parts of normal processing you are seeing without realizing
it yet. For example, you could be looking at the problem window's Title bar and Status bar
for clues. Unfortunately Windows doesn't provide any statistics on a TCP-IP connection
but you might be able to infer more about what is happening with one which is breakpointed
this way using (e.g.) netstat -asp tcp in a cmd window.

You could ask then what diagnostics the other browsers provide.
Note: please learn to distinguish between Java and Javascript.
They are not the same. The HTML for these pages contains Javascript
which is used to do such things as the mouse support that I mentioned.
I saw no sign of Java being used. The ActiveX control that both pages
trace relates to their use of Macromedia Shockwave Flash embedded objects.

You could try reinstalling your Scripting support.
Here's a link which Jon Kennedy points other users to for that:

Many people are unaware of third-party programs which they have added
(or which have been added) to their systems. That's what others' comments
about malware, spyware, etc. are about.
