Re: Hungapp when "Open in new Window"

This usually is caused by some browser add-ons. See if this note helps, especially the Quoted part:

See if these commands help, from Start/Run:

regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 /i urlmon.dll

Restart Windows.

Additional recommendations:

Disable all Pop-up blockers if installed any. Here is a detailed note from Don Varnau, MS-MVP Internet Explorer

You probably have a program running which is blocking pop-up windows- something like Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, a firewall, Earthlink (or another) pop-up blocker, MyIE2 (or another shell for IE) etc.

You'll have to turn off the feature that's blocking new windows or, perhaps, uninstall the program.

BHO Demon from http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm may find the offending program/BHO.

Or it could be caused by spyware/parasites. Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at

You'd be interested in using my program ToolbarCop to disable the IE add-ons (that includes browser extensions, toolbars, additional buttons to the standard toolbar, Browser Helper Objects) selectively, to isolate the problem. ToolbarCop can be downloaded from: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4126.html

Hello - The past few days I have encountered a problem with IE6. I am using Win XP SP1. The browser works fine until I try to right click and open a link in a new window. When I do this, a new window does not open and the current window eventually locks up and says "not responding".

Here are the details of the error from windows:
szAppName : IEXPLORE.EXE szAppVer : 6.0.2800.1106 szModName :
hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000

C:\DOCUME~1\ROB&TA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER12.tmp.dir00\IEXPLORE.EXE.mdmp
C:\DOCUME~1\ROB&TA~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER12.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt

Does anyone have any advice regarding this issue? I have run a full
scan with Norton - came up with nothing. Thanks for your help!!!!!!
Rob
