Some Sites not opening

Hi
I'm having problem opening site http://symantec.com in IE browser. The page
loaded in the browser is homepage of google.com while the URL in the url bar
is http://symantec.com. The actual problem I'm having is that my norton
antivirus update is not working on this system. It says cannot connect to
the server. The reason I suppose is that somehow the antivirus update client
is also connecting to google.com for updating its definitions as its doing
in browser. I know viruses do such kind of activities, i.e. to block access
to antivirus sites. but I've removed the viruses manually by deleting known
virus exes from system32 folder and their entries from the registry. Also
I've checked the task manager and there are no suspicious processes visible
running that could be virus.
Also I'm not having this problem in other systems on the LAN, so its
definitely not a problem at my service provider's end.
Can someone please tell how to fix this site redirection issue. Is this some
setting in IE or what, as I need to update the virus definitions.
