Cannot connect to Internet using IE6

Help! I cannot connect to internet using IE6. I can download email and use
FTP though. All other computers can connect to internet, but when I look at
lower left-hand corner it resolves DNS name and then just sits there until
finally it says "page cannot be displayed". I can ping and tracert to
msn.com, yahoo.com ect. from computer, but for some reason can not use web
browser. I have uninstalled and re-installed IE. I have even tried Firefox.

I really apprecate any help anyone can give me. I am pulling my hair out.
