Re: .gifs no longer animated since upgrade

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

HI kellybs :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

IE>Internet Options>Advanced tab>Multimedia section>
Check "Play animations in webpages"
Click Apply>OK out.

Try Doug Knox's script utility:
http://www.dougknox.com/utility/scripts_desc/fixpix.htm

or…...

Go to Start>Run and type in the window:
regsvr32.exe /i shdocvw.dll (all versions of IE) ... and then hit enter
then type in
  regsvr32.exe /i shdoc401.dll (IE5 upwards)

If using WindowsME the command is:

 regsvr32.exe /i thumbvw.dll

You should soon see a *succeeded* dialogue box after each command.
Click ok, and then reboot

Hope this helps :-)

I upgraded to IE 6 & suddenly, no more gif animation. It works in XP, but
not in my browser window, which is Explorer. This is somewhat problematic,
as I maintain our company website & the webpage gifs aren't functional for
me. They work for others in their browsers, but apparently, not in MY
browser. I did visit other gif pages to ensure it wasn't just our website.

How do I fix this, and how do I ensure it doesn't happen with the next
upgrade? I've set my pc to do auto-updates.
